New Electrical Safety Regulations in the Private Rented Sector
New UK regulations came into force on 1 June 2020 which require the electrical installations in private rented properties to be inspected and tested by a person who is qualified and competent, at least every 5 years.

Although the regulations are new and now make this a mandatory requirement in private rented housing, electrical inspection and testing is a long established procedure for assessing the condition of electrical systems, and at Matt Browning Limited, our qualified electricians have been inspecting and testing electrical installations in commercial and domestic buildings for many years

Any dangerous situations that require remedial action noted on the Electrical Installation Condition Report should be rectified within 28 days. Failure to comply with these Regulations may carry significant financial penalties. However, inspecting and maintaining your electrical installations is more than a statutory duty, you also have the benefit of knowing that your property is electrically safe, therefore protecting your tenants and your investment.

At Matt Browning Limited, our electricians are qualified and experienced to inspect and test electrical installations in private rented homes. We are proud to provide accurate reports and work with landlords where necessary to advise and carry out remedial work to bring installations up to standard. When an installation is well maintained, future inspection and testing is a simple process.

If you are a landlord and require an inspection, please contact us.
