Why have an Electrical Installation Condition Report?

  • Safety
Ensure your electrical installation is safe for your staff, visitors, and members of the public
  • Reliability
Identify any potential failures before they occur, allowing planned maintenance to take place at a time of your choice, rather than unexpected reactive maintenance and disruption.
  • Compliance
In a commercial environment the landlord and employer have a duty of care over employees and the premises. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require that an electrical installation should be adequately maintained to prevent danger as far as reasonably practicable. A good quality E.I.C.R. provides evidence that these safety check have been carried out and provides a prioritised plan for any improvement work.
  • Insurance
Most policies require periodic inspection and testing of the electrical installation to ensure it is in a safe condition - this is demonstrated with an up to date "satisfactory" electrical installation condition report.
  • New premises
Purchase or lease. Avoid unexpected costs - our engineers can assess if the electrical installation is safe and in suitable condition for your needs when purchasing or leasing new premises. This can assist with reducing costs at end of lease dilapidations reports.
  • Fire or Flood
If your property or site has experienced damage, it is wise to get the electrical installation checked and the results properly documented. This then provides a prioritised plan for any remedial work.

LED lighting upgrade installed in a school, providing cost savings though energy efficient lighting
September 9, 2024
At Matt Browning Electrical, our experienced electricians can upgrade old fluorescent lighting in nurseries, schools, colleges, and universities with the latest LED lighting technology - not only improving lighting performance and reducing future maintenance costs, but also delivering significant cost reductions through reduced energy consumption. We were recently asked to upgrade the old fluorescent lighting in classroom and corridor areas in this school building. Our complimentary site survey found many of the fluorescent tubes and control-gear components had failed, and with fluorescent lighting technology being phased out for environmental and energy saving reasons, we provided a fixed price quote for an LED lighting upgrade. We supplied & installed LED lighting from Ansell and low glare lighting from Ovia in classroom areas. With automatic control through occupancy sensors and dimmable controls for the classroom, performance has improved whilst energy costs have reduced.
